Based on "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy by J.R.R Tolkien.
All about the hills the hosts of Mordor raged. The Captains of the West were
foundering in a gathering sea. The sun gleamed red, and under the wings of the
Nazgul the shadows of death fell dark upon the earth.
From the land of Mordor, the dark lord Sauron seeks to conquer Middle Earth and
its people. To be sure of domination, he lacks only the One Ring, the master
ring; the artifact that forms the very foundation of his power, but cut from his
hand long ago.
By chance or fate, the small Hobbit Frodo Baggins from the peaceful Shire, has
come into possession of the master ring. Counseled by th Elves and the wizard
Gandalf, Frodo has made a heroic decision. With his servant Samwise and seven
other brave companions, Frodo wil undertake a desperate journey into darkness.
Secretly, by stealth and by hidden paths, this fellowship must travel the long
leagues of Middle Earth and find their way into Mordor, into the very land of
Sauron himself. Here, Frodo must seek the Mountain of Doom, and cast the ring
into its fire; destroying the power of Sauron forever. Yet, as the Fellowship
advances towards its fateful goal, its heroes will be needed to rouse the forces
of the scattered nations of Middle Earth before they are overun by the armies of
Never suspecting a threat to the ring itself, Sauron fears above all that a
mighty leader will emerge in the west with the power to wield the ring and
threaten his dominion. Before such a threat can take shape, the lord of Mordor
know that he must strike fast and hard, quickly laying waste to all resistance.
The War of the Ring has begun!
The War of the Ring board game is a grand strategic simulation of Tolkien's Lord
of the Rings trilogy.
While the Fellowship of the Ring advances towards Mordor, the Dark Lord Sauron
tries to find the location of the Ring-bearer, and unleashes his armies against
the last strongholds of the Free Peoples.
Faithful to the epic flavor of the books, characters and strongholds play a
major role in the flow of the game and represent the main focus of the action. A
simple and fun, dice-based, resource management mechanism is used to determine
the various types of action possible for each player. Smooth, original mechanics
have been devised to handle the hidden movement of the Fellowship and the Hunt
