It's a great place to take advantage of the amount of wood, coal, iron or grain deposits that are transported across the canal every day to produce flour, beer, steam engines and even ships! As the owner of industries, you can trust that the canal will supply them with hydropower. In addition, the main railway lines meet in Griffintown, thus increasing the dynamic development of the city and its role as a centre of freight transport.

In The Smoky Valley you are investors who accompany the industrial and economic development of Griffintown in the 19th century. Your goal is to gain prestige in urban development so that Griffintown becomes a particularly prosperous place in North America.

During the game, you build industries, produce and process goods, and sell them locally or overseas. In addition, you will widen and modernize the newly opened Lachine Canal.

In addition to these activities for the benefit of Griffintown (and your own prosperity!), you must take care of economic progress, the introduction of public services and the improvement of the quality of life. If your actions are well received by the population and popularity increases, you can even become mayor of Griffintown. This office offers you the chance to influence the priorities of the city according to your interests, and of course also according to those of the inhabitants, what else!
