The Wise One, immortal keeper of wisdom and knowledge, has sent Demigods endowed with earth-moving power to the far reaches of humanity. In Oros each player acts as one of these Demigods. They must instruct their Followers in the wisdom of the mountains through study, worship, and experience. And only in the heights of the mountains can the greatest mysteries be known.

Oros is a tile-colliding, volcano erupting, mountain-making, wisdom-gathering, action-economy strategy game. On individual player mats, players move their Followers between action spaces, allowing them to manipulate a shared environment like a giant puzzle of plate tectonics. Action spaces allow players to shift rows of land, move and collide land tiles, form and erupt volcanoes, worship to gain wisdom, journey their Followers around the ever-shifting landscape, and build sacred places of study and worship on mountains. Building sacred places and worshipping in sacred places brings wisdom which is used to improve the abilities available for each action space. Wisdom is also used to improve the end game value of each sacred place built as well as reach other goals worth end game points.

When building sacred places, the Demigods of the Wise One ascend a ziggurat which acts as a timer toward the end of the game. When one reaches the top, players finish the round and then tally a final score.

At the core of Oros is the unique ability to shift, move, build up, erupt, and reposition the land within an infinitely connected play environment. This mechanic turns every action into a puzzle of creative problem solving, abstract thinking, and a constantly evolving strategy. Another chief aspect of the game is the player mat which uses a minimal worker placement mechanic to govern action opportunity. The mat also maintains an action economy that evolves differently for each player as they invest their gained wisdom into a variety of action improvements. Because of these core aspects, there are dozens of strategies for players to explore, and every game plays out in a different, yet competitive way.

Oros is a strategy board game about humankind’s ancient pursuit of hidden knowledge and power. As a powerful Demigod, you must lead your followers from an isolated island to the majestic mountains where they can build sacred sites of study and learn for themselves the higher knowledge.

You’ll compete to gain the most knowledge through a combination of:

  • worker placement (assign followers to take actions and occupy areas on the map, but plan wisely so they don’t end up getting in your way!)
  • tile-shifting (manipulate the landscape like a giant puzzle of plate tectonics)
  • area-development (build one of three types of sacred site on each mountain to gain immediate rewards)
  • action-economy (become more proficient in each action or specialize in one to gain powerful abilities)

To manipulate the landscape you’ll be able to:

  • shift full rows of land tiles (to make large adjustments, across long distances)
  • move small sets of land tiles (to collide and form larger tiles, volcanoes, and mountains)
  • erupt volcanoes (to form new land tiles where you want and need them)

At the same time you’ll assign your followers to:

  • build sacred sites on mountains (to gain wisdom and climb the ascension tracker)
  • journey across the land (to visit nearby mountains or climb down from sacred sites)
  • study in sacred sites (to bring new followers out onto the map)
  • return from spaces of study (to gain wisdom and improve your abilities)

The way you manage your followers, build sacred sites, and invest your wisdom will lead your people to acquire greater knowledge. And the Demigod who endows their followers with the most knowledge will be honored and revered for all generations throughout time.

Tile-colliding, volcano-erupting, mountain-making, wisdom-gathering. Oros drops players into a world of constant change and clever maneuvering, in the perennial struggle to control their fate. It combines real connections to geology and anthropology with kinetic game mechanics, including spatial arrangement within a shared environment. The result is a delightfully layered puzzle-like game that rewards those who creatively push its boundaries.

Convert any Demigod into an automa by simply flipping their player mat over and using its unique deck of cards. All four automa are engineered differently with distinct play styles and personalities ranging from friendly to aggressive. Each one requires a different strategy to win.

The automa system is designed to be incredibly simple, quick to carry out, and wonderfully low maintenance, so you can focus on the game.

In solo mode, you will compete against two automa, adding variety and challenge to your game. With 2 players, you’ll add at least one automa to play. Fun fact: the automa system is able to work as a stand-in for any empty seat, at any player count! Even zero players!
